Documentation
This section seeks to provide travellers with all the
relevant information and procedures regarding the
different types of visas issued by the Embassy for those
who wish to visit Indonesia.
Tourist visas
are only intended for tourists who are visiting Indonesia, NOT for
expatriates intending to work and live for an extended period of time.
Tourist visas will be needed by friends or family coming to visit
you during your stay in Indonesia. The Indonesian Government has a
tourist visa system with three different categories.
In conjunction with Decision No.103/2003 signed by the
President Republic of Indonesia with regard to the new
visa policy, from the 1st February 2004, there will be a
change of regulation on the Visa-Free Short Visit
to Indonesia for Tourism. There are nationals of 11
countries who are entitled to visit Indonesia without a
visa. On the other hand, there are nationals of 19
countries who will need an approval from
Immigration Authorities in Indonesia, for any type of
visa, before entering Indonesia.

Visa Free forTourist Short Visit
Only 11 countries and territories are
eligible for visa free facility entering Indonesia, there are:
Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei Darussalam, Philippine,
Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Chile, Morocco, Peru, and Vietnam. These
country and territories will issued 30 days permit to stay free of
charge upon presentation of a valid passport remaining of six months
validity.
Short Visit Tourism Visa Issued on Arrival
Nationals of 52 countries can obtain
"VISA ON ARRIVAL" processing on the gate upon arrival at the airport
following payment of official fee. The following is the 52 countries:
Canada, Australia, Austria, Argentina, United state of
America, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria,
Cambodia, Cyprus, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland,
France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, India, Iran,
Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Laos, Liechtenstein,
Luxembourg, Maldives, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, New
Zealand, Norway, Oman, People's Republic of China,
Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South
Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden,
Suriname, Taiwan, The Netherlands, United Arab Emirates,
United Kingdom.
Please be advised that Visa On Arrival may only be
extended upon approval from the Director General of
Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia in case of
natural disaster, illness or accident, but cannot be
transferred to another type of visa. Overstay visitors
incur to pay a penalty of US$20.- per day/person (for
under 60 days stay) whilst over 60 days stay will be a 5
(five) year prison sentence or a fine of IDR25.000.000
(local currency).
Entry Requirements for Visa on arrival (VOA)
1.
Passport must be valid for a minimum of 6
months as from the date of entry into
Indonesia.
2.
No compulsory vaccinations.
3.
Visitors must enter Indonesia from The
international airport or seaport of
Indonesia which is has visa autorization
facilities.
4.
Onward or return tickets are cumpulsory.

Please note that these regulations do not apply for
foreigners/expatriates (including members of their
family) who are assigned/based in Indonesia.
Visa is required and should be applied for before hand.
Those whose countries ARE NOT included in the above
list or wish to stay longer than 30 days in Indonesia,
should apply for their visa in advance, at the
Indonesian Embassy.
