Meratus Mountain lies from the northern to southern of South Borneo with the highest peak is on Mount Besar, the area is covered by lush tropical rainforest, rivers, mossy stones, and tremendous waterfall. The range is inhabited by the Bukit Dayak ethnic, most of them are still maintaining the ancestor belief and tradition, such as; nomadic farming, animals hunting, and ritual ceremonies as part of their life.

They are living on longhouses as the center of ritual ceremonies and community. The longhouse here is rather different with other longhouse in all places of Borneo, it is a rectangle building where family rooms all over the building surrounding the communal veranda in the middle.

Trekking to the jungle of Borneo will let you touch the unspoiled rainforest flowed by wonderful rivers and grown by diverse of vegetation that sustain the ecological harmony for all creatures as well as the unique life of the Dayak people that unite to the nature with their friendly attitude and hospitality that tend to make visitors immediately feel at home in their midst.

Tour Itinerary

Day 01: ARRIVAL IN BANJARMASIN
Meet at airport and directly transfer to hotel for check in. Next, exploring Banjarese river civilization by taking an afternoon canal sightseeing. Afterwards, return to hotel for overnight. Free at your own leisure. (D)

Day 02: FLOATING MARKET – BELANGIAN – SUNGAI BESAR
Early in the morning, we will leave to floating market for exploring the unique culture of Banjarese that trade commodities from boat to boat, then return to hotel crossing Banjarmasin River while sightseeing people activities at riverside. Next, proceed to Aranio small port for cruising upward the Riam Kanan Lake to reach Belangian village while sighting beautiful mountainous scenery, floating fishing ponds, and boat making as well as species of bird fly over the lake. Afterwards, we will be trekking to Sungai Besar for finding a good place to set our campsite. (B,L,D)

Day 03: RAINFOREST TREKKING
After breakfast, we will be trekking to Riam Cemara crossing villager farmlands, rivers and cascades, meadow, hills, primary and secondary rainforest. Next, continue trekking to Kahung valley waterfall with almost the same characteristic. Lunch will be served en route, dinner and overnight on bivouac/tent. (B,L,D)

Day 04: RAINFOREST TREKKING – BELANGIAN – BANJARMASIN
After breakfast, proceed to Belangian village for cruising downward to Riam Kanan small port and directly transfer to Banjarmasin for overnight on hotel. (B,L,D)

Day 05: TRIP CONCLUDE
Breakfast at hotel and free at your own leisure till the proper time for transferring to airport for your next destination. (B)
